BUSINESS PARTNERS & TENANTS

Tenant Recruitment

We are actively inviting companies and independent business owners from a wide range of industries to establish their presence in the Sekiyama area of Myoko City.

Working in close collaboration with businesses already operating locally, we are advancing a place-making initiative that aims to create vibrant flows of people and renewed vitality throughout the entire area.

By harnessing the unique character and appeal of MyokoSekiyama, we seek partners who are eager to co-create new value and grow together with the town.

If you are interested, please feel free to contact our Business Development Team for further information.

Why Sekiyama?

Sekiyama is a place where daily life and culture continue to thrive around a railway station, embraced by the rich natural environment of Mt. Myoko and the surrounding mountains.

In addition to its well-known attractions—such as skiing, hiking, and hot springs—Sekiyama is distinguished by the coexistence of tourism and authentic local life. This balance is what makes the area truly special.

At the same time, the gradual decline of local shops and services in recent years has reduced the number of places where both visitors and residents can stop, gather, and spend meaningful time.

We believe Sekiyama has the potential to become a place where small, distinctive businesses are thoughtfully dispersed, encouraging people to wander naturally, connect with one another, and linger longer.

Our vision goes beyond simply providing retail or business space.
Together with business owners and the local community, we aim to cultivate relationships that create lasting value—
building compelling reasons to visit Sekiyama, and even stronger reasons to return. This is the future of town-making we strive to achieve, hand in hand with our partners.

Types of Businesses We Are Seeking

We primarily welcome small to medium-sized retail-oriented businesses that can contribute to creating a vibrant, walkable town with strong synergies across the area.

FOOD & DINING

We welcome food and beverage businesses that enrich both the everyday lives of local residents and the stay experience of visitors.

This includes a wide range of concepts, such as fast-casual outlets (e.g. onigiri, burgers), izakaya, bars and snack bars, as well as European-style restaurants such as Italian or French cuisine. Casual, approachable eateries—similar to a local “neighbourhood diner”—are also very welcome.

RETAIL & PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

We welcome retail businesses offering products for daily life as well as memorable items for travellers, including daily necessities, gift items, ski and outdoor gear, apparel, lifestyle goods, and casual jewellery.

We are particularly interested in small, distinctive shops that reflect local character and lifestyle.

LIFESTYLE & SERVICE EXPERIENCES

As part of supporting everyday life and longer stays, we are seeking service-oriented businesses such as hair salons, nail salons, massage and wellness services, as well as rental shops, tour planning and guiding services, galleries, and schools or learning spaces.

Our goal is to provide services that are convenient and valuable not only for local residents, but also for visitors and long-term guests.

Store Size & Operating Style

•Small-scale businesses welcome
(Independent operators and first-time shop owners are encouraged)

•Weekend-only or seasonal operations are acceptable

•In addition to permanent stores, phased openings or trial / pilot operations can also be discussed

Beyond individual businesses, we value collaboration—between tenants, and with the local community.

We look forward to welcoming those who share our vision of creating a distinctive, vibrant town unique to Myoko and Sekiyama.

Consultation Process with Prospective Tenants

Initial meeting

We begin by discussing your business concept, motivation for opening a store, and your long-term vision.
At the same time, we will introduce the characteristics of the Myoko–Sekiyama area and share our overall placemaking philosophy.
This first meeting is an opportunity to align values, expectations, and goals.
Online meetings are also available.

Confirmation of Store Conditions and Schedule

We will discuss the proposed store size, operating style (permanent, weekend-only, or seasonal), rental conditions, and desired opening timeline.
If you are considering a small-scale opening or a phased approach, we are happy to explore flexible options together to create a realistic and sustainable business plan.

Agreement

Once the terms and roles have been agreed upon, we will formalise the arrangement through a contract.
Our approach prioritises long-term partnerships, ensuring that both parties can operate with confidence and peace of mind.

Store design & Renovation

We will proceed with store design and interior planning that reflect your business concept and brand identity.
Our team will support you throughout the process, including renovations that make the most of existing buildings and designs that respect Sekiyama’s local character, climate, and landscape.

Move-in & Business Launch

After construction is completed, you will move in and begin operations.
During the initial launch phase, we support promotion both within and outside the region, as well as collaboration with neighbouring businesses, to help ensure a smooth start.

On-going Business Support

Even after opening, we continue to provide support through joint events, area-wide marketing initiatives, and opportunities for collaboration with other tenants.
Rather than simply leasing space, we aim to build long-term relationships as partners who grow together and contribute to the vitality of Sekiyama.
